In relation to children, the creative arts are activities that engage a child's imagination and can include activities such as art, dance, drama, puppetry, and music.

Beginning of Activity
Talk to children about recycling. Explain to them that we can use objects in our classroom to make beautiful art projects. Fill an empty tissue box with recycled art materials. Have the children reach inside and grab pieces from the box.
Middle of Activity
Early:
Have these children take pieces from the box and create their own personalized art projects with them. They can get a crazy or as simple as they'd like to make them.
Middle:
Explore these children's minds, ask them what their making, what inspired them to add these pieces to their art project. Why they added a certain piece to their projects.
Later:
Explore these children's minds, ask them what their making, what inspired them to add these pieces to their art project. Why they added a certain piece to their projects. Allow these children then to show you what they made while having them show you want materials they used for this activity and why.
End of Activity
Do a show and tell with your child's are projects.
Ask them open ended questions about what they made and why they used the materials that they picked.
Follow-up Ideas:
Use these art projects in their portfolios to show their creativity.
Add these recycled materials on your art shelf for the children to use when they are making other open ended art projects.

Talk to the children about all different instruments.
Demonstrate what each instrument you have does.
Middle of Activity

Give these children an instrument that they could dance around with. Give each child a turn using all different instruments.

Later:
Give these children an instrument that they could dance around with. Give each child a turn using all different instruments. Have these children try and follow one another in a line forming a marching band or while playing next to each other try and match their friends beat or rythum.

Talk to the children about making music and what instruments what what different sounds.

Beginning of Activity
Read the children a book called "Pete the Cat, I lvoe my White Shoes" to get them all excited and curious about the shoe store that were going to create.
Middle of Activity
Early:
Have these children be the shoppers for the shoes. Observe as the children play and "shop" around looking at all the different options of shoes.
Middle:
These children can be the workers of the store. Watch as the children work at the shoe store helping the other children try on shoes and play during our shoe shop time.
Later:
Allow these children to also work at the store. These children can help customers pick out shoes and try them on, while also playing at the register cashing out the children that bought shoes.
End of Activity
This is a very open ended activity for children to play out different scenarios at a shoe store. Try to sit back and watch the children as they pretend to run the store or be a customer.
Follow-up Ideas:
Allow these items to be apart of your children dramatic play area.
Allow these children to make up another type of store that they would like to create. Maybe a grocery store or a clothing store.
