Standard 1:

Students prepared in early childhood degree programs are grounded in a child development knowledge base. They use their understanding of young children’s characteristics and needs and of the multiple interacting influences on children’s development and learning to create environments that

are healthy, respectful, supportive, and challenging

for each child.

Standard 1a:

Below I have attached a photo of a classroom layout that I've made that meet Standard 1a. This classroom represents the knowledge and understanding of young children's characteristics and needs. Each child needs a certain square footage in a classroom for an appropriate learning environment. The importance of play in the life of a child is will also support this standard. This room layout also displays the understanding of how to create and maintain a healthy learning environment.
